First time out with stage 1 05 RXP Not happy.
Hulk can you give me some advice please? I have Impros 14/19.5 impeller (mabey to hot of a pitch), OPAS block off, R&D air intake kit, R&D 2.5 wedge plate (running a couple of bars over the middle position), RR racing/Green Hulk Exhaust mod, R&D RXP bolt on nozzle. Riva top loader (smooth lakes) scoop grate. Engine was new and I rode it around for about an hour. Then I started to make a couple of wide open pulls. Just short ones. Results were piss poor. 70MPH @ 7999-8000 RPM??

Are you speeds based on GPS or the speedo? How many hours are on the ski? Which prop... stock or Solas?

I only have about 1 hour on this ski and I have a stock prop with a Impros repitch 14-19.5.

That pitch doesn't sound right. But, besides that it sounds like your pushin it a little hard already. You may want to take it easy till the 8-10 hours mark (IMO).

I'm no pro and only have the experience from my own ski and modifications and what I've read in these types of forums. I'm making an educated guess and figure that you're engine isn't quite broken in and loosened to where you're going to see max performance, but that might be the sole reason. Too, with all the pump changes and the pitch might be affecting or conflicting until tuned together with a repitch. Because PPG and other places don't seem to give out the actual pitching parameters, it's hard to say what mine or others' set ups are doing in comparison with yours. That 2.5 degree wedge is even more than the 2.0 that I have and I've read a lot of cons with just having a wedge and that it's for smooth riding only. This is just all that I've heard and spitting back out to you.

Break it in first or it will never reach its full potential.

Fastcat, please do not do anymore high speed runs until you have at least 8 to 10 hours on it. I hate to say it, but you need to ditch the R&D intake. They have been proven to actuallyhurt performance. The intake opening is just above the exhaust manifold (the hottest place in your engine compartment) Spend the $225 and get yourself a Riva Power Filter. It ingests air from the front of the engine and you will see better results.
Also, the 2.5 degree wedge is way too much for an RXP. You need to be running a 2 degree wedge!
Your stock impeller should be pitched at a 12/19.5 for best results.
Also, was the 70 mph you were seeing a GPS reading or from the speedo? Reason I ask this is the speedo will not read over 70 on most RXP's for some reason.
One thing you will also find is these motors really start to loosen up about 30 hours and make more power.
Hope that helped!
