    Skat Trak dual bearing/ss wear ring 20 hour inspection

    Inspected my pump tonite after 20 hours of use. Stock pump was sent to Skat Trak for the double beasring mod and stainless steel wear ring @ 8 hours when the stock plastic wear ring went bad. Now have 28 hours on the ski. As long as you don't pull the shaft out to look at the bearings when you get the pump back after the bearing mod the shaft seal will remain intact.

    The inspection was totally unneccesary. The sea doo synthetic pump lube looked like it did when I initially put the lube in the pump. No shaft or bearing play. If you want my opinion, have Skat Trak freshen up the bearings every winter, add 2 ounces of synthetic pump lube when putting back together and forget about the pump until the next winter. The wear ring looked good with some slight grooving due to normal wear and tear from debris going through the pump. The green anodized finish on the impeller nose cone is gone! Looks like early signs of very slight prop burn in the center outer edge of each blade. All in all, very satisfied with the pump mod.

    Mark, What did skat-trak charge for that mod?

    I believe it was around $460 and included a new shaft, bearings, stainless wear ring and billet aluminum pump cone with an 1/8" pipe plug for filling with oil or could be used to pressure test the pump. The shaft in the rear is a flat shaft so you don't need the 12 mm allen. In a previous post I attached pictures of the pump when I got it back initially. I don't know how to link to that post though.
