Hood Shock Assembly
Anyone have any issues with the hood shock assembly popping off the ball mount located on the hood. Anyone have any suggestions on why this maybe happening. Put a new one on seems to pop off after you open and close the hood several times as well as while riding even in semi-calm conditions. Its a 2008 RXT-X
Thanks

This was a common problem on early model X skis. It pops off because of the angle of the hood shock. The solution is to move the base plate so that the shock compresses at the correct angle. This should be covered under warranty, so make your dealer do it.

Thanks for the tip Franko. Unfortunately pretty much the 2 dealers that where in my area closed up and the only other one I wouldn't take my ski too if my life depended on it, just a bunch of idiots there. If I were to do it myself, is it a major job and roughly how far from the rivet at the nose of the ski would I have to move it or is it a guessing game. I would imagine the shock assembly has to be straight up and down.
Thanks

You have to move the mounting bracket to the left. Here is a link to a thread describing the fix. Check out the service bulletin posted in this thread for the step-by-step procedure.

That fitting provides water pressure to the OPAS. If it has been removed...
Probably a dumb question...
