    96 Venture 1100 Repair...

I'm trying to fix my in-laws' jetski. It's a 1996 Wave Venture 1100 & the middle piston/Rod has blown and destroyed the case. There is oil in the reservoir. What would cause just the one piston to go? Any Idea what would have caused this to happen? Should the oil pump be replaced? I will need to reuse the intake, reeds, exhaust, & carbs on the used replacement motor, Any advice on what I should do to the replacement motor or on any of the parts I have to use from the old motor? Can any tell me if the Stator is OK, there's two places that look burnt, I'm not sure if this is something that's normal or to be concerned about

    you ask many good questions,,

need to see more detail and more info to determine what caused the cylinder to expire,

it is in fact common to have single cylinder failures,

    Carberation can cause it,

depends on your skills and your $$$,, you can rebuild what you have or you might buy a rebuilt or you might find a good used motor,,

    good luck

I'm comfortable doing the work. I've rebuilt a 1946 Willys jeep engine and it still runs. I want to spend as little as possible but at the same time do not want to have to do again very soon. I have a used motor to install, with compression of 115-120 between all 3 cylinders. I will need to re-use the carburator, exhaust manifold & pipe, the flywheel cover & electrical box, and the fuel & Oil pumps. I am thinking I should rebuild the carbs and replace the fuel & oil lines. Not sure about the oil pump or to just use premix fuel. The meter guage/display is not working so I do not know the hours or anything more about it. It's mainly used in Michigan for a few months out of the year so I do nothink it has many hours, but I do know my wife's brothers ride it pretty hard when they use it. I have more pictures but just do not know what I need to show or what else I should describe.
