Check your reverse buckets
Just thought I would pass this along. A friend brought over his RXP so I could install stainless clamps on his bailer tubes and true the ride plate/intake grate and fill in the holes. After I was done I noticed that his reverse bucket seemed to sit higher than mine. I took a closer look at my ski and the bottom edge of the reverse bucket was about a quarter inch bellow the steering venturi!! Did some adjusting and dremel work to make sure it was completely away from water flow through the pump when not in use. Thought I would pass this along. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm sure it wasn't helping the performance of the ski.
Check your reverse buckets.

Has anyone tried to remove the reverse bucket just to see if performance changes.
I looked at mine yesterday and it seem to line up if the ski was flat.
I have a wedge and I could see where water would be scrapping off the lip of the bucket either on takeoff or maybe even when planned and hitting waves.
Has anyone cut the lip off and noticed a difference ?

No noticeable gain w/out the bucket. Put it back on and dremeled the bottom lip just in case it was blocking the nozzle.

I think I might sand down the bar that makes it stop when going back.
Should make it sit back a little higher/farther.
I would think it would interfere during the holeshot. Since your angled up and going forward

No wedge. Seemed like it was against the stops. Didn't have the time to take apart, to check everything. Used my trusty Dremel tool and took the "lip" off to make sure it cleared. Didn't effect the reverse operation at all, picked up almost 1 mph by getting it out of the way.

That's a great increase. No other changes?

When I go to put my new impeller in I'm going to shave the bar that sits it back and shave off the lip.
