Ultra 150 has a puddle of oil in it.
My friends Ultra 150 has a puddle of oil sitting in it. He took it to the dealer because it's still under warranty, but the dealer said he couldn't find anything wrong with it... Performance wise, everything seems fine. However, my friend stated on his last ride, he was noticing about 10-15mph less on his machine... but when we went out today, it seemed fine. When I looked at the engine, I noticed something must have sprayed on the engine as there is residue drops all over the innerside of the hull...
Hope this makes sense... :P
I'd hate to see his ski break if there is something that we can do now to prevent that from happening.

Ultras are known to crack oil lines so I would change them out with tygon line to be safe. The other common issue that comes to mind is I have heard of several leaking arround the sending unit in the oil tank. Past that I would clean it up and keep an eye on it.

bldigger, Thank you for the response. I'll be sure to pass this information along to him. We were hoping to clean it out this weekend. We'll check the oil lines for any signs of weakness. I'll also try to take a picture or two of the mess. Maybe it might offer some insight as to where it came from.
Thanks again

When I had my STXR I also noticed oil in bottom. I cleaned it, rode and traced it to the oil pump at the front of engine. Dealer said 1-2 weeks to get it in and fix. I did it myself. Hope this helps.

Dealer missed something! How did they explain the presence of the oil??
After all...Oil doesn't just materialize right out of thin air!
Just a thought...but....will replacing the oil lines void warranty?
Was oil spilled inside the hull by the owner?
You really need to clear this up before running the ski again. Get your head in there, with a bright flashlight....and a mirror and save that motor....assuming it isn't already too late.

I brought it to the dealer early in the summer and they told me it was fine to not worry about it so I havent done anything about it since then and the ski has worked fine for me all summer. But now that I have read all your comments I will definetly take a closer look at it.
