    If your guessing, don't. They should be forged on the intercooled engines.
    If your replacing them, Forged is the way to go. Don't know about the rods.

    I would do the flywheel bolts! Riding in chop hooking and unhooking even at moderate speeds is what can snap them. Cheap insurance!

    You probably melted an exhaust hose somewhere, or a exhaust hose popped off, would explain the white smoke, and the feeling of it choking.

    Great idea , but, why swaping out the wet sparkplugs let it fire right up? Same ECU that would not start 5 min before the plugs were changed.
    ECU can't "see" what spark plugs are in it.
