I am in Australia, but laser thermometer on thermostat case shows it getting to around 40-45C (105-115F) , service manual spec is it opens at 50-60 (123-140).
Do you just idle yours or are you... -

As I understand the cooling system, the flow out of the block runs thru the thermostat, so when the thermostat is closed (as it is normally when running on hose) fresh water is only running... -

Hi,
Just finished rebuilding an MR1 engine (07 FXHO), it sounds a little rough and rattley on idle (1600rpm) to me but not sure if this is just how they sound as it wasn't running when I got it.... -

Fitting new cable gland (bellows) to the reverse cable where it comes out the deck to the reverse handle, fits the deck hole OK but the top hole is huge compared to the diameter of the cable... -

I found an oil pump drive pin for a Yamaha bike (part 93603-22028), ordered it on the off chance and its the same diameter to within 0.02mm, its a bit longer but that should be easy to sort out on...

I am just doing mine now, using a wire knot twisty type attachment in angle grinder to clean all whist powdery residue off, it looks solid but doesnt take much to turn the top surface to powder....
